"Small Arms...Just Too Dangerous," by Kyle Shook and Antonia Carter

“Can I get a motion for a definition of small arms?” Syria opened up the second topic of DIS at LIMUN XXVII. Though delegates fought hard over the regulation of small arms, the delegate from Hudsonville swept the floor by supporting the idea that everyone should have small arms. In response, Germany stated he “did not want a bunch of Hitlers running around.” Russia fought fiercely, pointing out that Syria constantly depends on Russian aid. Mexico jumped to Syria’s defense, claiming that Russia was erroneously trying to “represent everybody.” Syria strongly supported small arms, mentioning that “at age 13, we are given a pistol and a grenade.” Russia and Syria traded blows, with Syria demanding that they “be left alone” and for Russia to look “[Syria] in [his] eyes.”

The countries of Luxembourg, Syria, Slovakia, Italy, Togo, Belgium, and Honduras decided to secede from the United Nations. They went as far as removing themselves from the audience and forming their own delegation. Chairman Chipper Atkins was not impressed.
